Community Health Worker (CHW) – Franklin County

United Way of Roanoke Valley is seeking a highly motivated, organized, outgoing and detail-oriented Community Health Worker to join our team. The CHW, in partnership with the West-Piedmont Health District and other Community Stakeholders, will advocate in favor of vaccine acceptance and work to increase and expedite vaccinations in the Franklin County community, while also working to remove barriers to vaccination. Candidates must be a team-player, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to gain trust of people from various walks of life and socio-economic levels. The Candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and must successfully complete Community Health Worker training upon hire. Two years of general work experience and experience in community outreach and working with underserved and marginalized populations preferred. A valid Virginia Driver’s License and reliable transportation is required.

This is a full-time, grant funded position at 37.5 hours per week. This is a non-exempt, hourly paid position at $19.50 per hour, with benefits. UWRV is an EOE and drug free workplace.

Grant Manager

United Way of Roanoke Valley is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Grant Manager for our Operations and Finance Team. This position will be instrumental in the day-to-day grants fiscal management of the organization with responsibility for preparing invoices for payment, reports for submission, budget monitoring and other grant administration tasks. In addition, this position provides assistance with Grant Writing and is responsible for basic administration of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program. Candidates must possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills, have a keen attention to detail, exhibit strong communication skills, and be able to work in a team oriented environment.

Requirements include advanced knowledge in MS Office Suite, the Internet, accounting software, and the ability to navigate and manage databases. High School diploma required. Basic Accounting knowledge required. Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred. Experience in a non-profit organization highly desirable.

Salary range is $42,000-$47,000 with benefits. EOE

Community Resource Hub Coordinator

United Way of Roanoke Valley is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and collaborative-mind relationship builder to serve as the Community Resource Hub Coordinator (CRHC). This position provides strategy development, leadership and implementation support to current and expanded partners of the UWRV Community Hub, coordinates ongoing network and professional development for the Community Health Worker network in the region, and works in partnership with the Steering Committee in the implementation of the Black Father Family Initiative (BFF) activities. The CHRC supports budget development, and is responsible for monitoring, implementation, reporting and compliance related to all aspects of the Hub, BFFI and other related grants and initiatives. They participate and at times may be asked to coordinate grant development efforts within the team, and with external partners. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, experience in program management and oversight, be able to build community relationships and manage volunteers and work in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of and experience implementing equity-focused programming is a plus.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Education, Human Service or related field with a Master’s Degree preferred. Three years of experience in management with increasingly complex responsibilities required. Experience in a non-profit environment is desirable. 

Salary range is $50,400 - $56,700 with benefits. EOE
