United Way Announces

2007 Results

More than 375 people gathered at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center on Valentine's Day to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2007 community campaign.

Campaign Chair Mike Coppola announced that the 2007 campaign raised $6,402,029, an increase over last year's results of $6,301,027.

"We set out on this campaign with the intent of increasing the overall campaign and I'm grateful to everyone who helped meet the challenge," said Coppola. Already work has started to decide how to invest the funds raised among the programs funded by United Way's Impact Fund.

"This campaign is a massive mobilization of local community volunteers and donors. It is our belief that by working together we are better able to bring about positive change in the lives of people who need a helping hand," said Frank Rogan, President of United Way of Roanoke Valley. "The ultimate outcome of this campaign is that we will create a healthier Roanoke Valley; where all children and youth can succeed, all families are strong, all seniors live with respect and dignity and everybody has the means to support themselves and a decent place to live," Rogan added.
