Get Ready to Build Wealth, Not Debt During ROANOKE VALLEY SAVES Week

Promoting automatic savings to help residents around the region reach their savings goals

Can you cover a $400 emergency? The majority of adults don’t have the savings they need to cope with small emergencies. Let’s change that!

Take the Roanoke Valley Saves Pledge and join the community for Roanoke Valley Saves Week, February 24 – February 28, 2020.  This week-long campaign encourages residents to take positive financial action, and save regularly to turn their dreams into reality. From day one, Savers will set financial goals, track their spending, and take control of their financial future.

Bank On Roanoke Valley, an initiative of United Way of Roanoke Valley, is partnering with area banks, credits unions, non-profits, and the City of Roanoke to offer resources and support with educational tools, free programs, and financial incentives during Roanoke Valley Saves Week.

“Whether it’s creating a rainy day fund or sticking to a budget, start by setting a goal, making a plan, and saving the most effective way, which is automatically,” said Bob Cowell, Roanoke City Manager and Chair of Bank On Roanoke Valley Steering Committee. “Those who start with a plan in mind are more than twice as likely to successfully save for their retirement or their children’s education, or whatever they’re looking forward to.”
