A Day of Service with the Virginia Tech Black College Institute

JULY 6, 2017 – During a 3-day residential pre-college program at the Virginia Tech Black College Institute, more than 50 rising high school juniors from across Virginia were immersed in university campus life, experienced college-level seminars, and spent a day volunteering with United Way of Roanoke Valley. Students experienced the university’s motto “Ut Prosim” (That I May Serve) by tending to the Goodwill Food Forest, interacting with seniors at Adult Care Center, sorting food at Feeding America Southwest Virginia, and working with children at the West End Center for Youth, United Methodist Community Outreach Program, and Boys & Girls Club.
