Women in Philanthropy

Women in Philanthropy was created in 2003 to recognize the vital role that Roanoke Valley women play in bringing about changes that improve the quality of life. A ten-member steering committee, chaired by Charlotte Porterfield, launched the United Way of Roanoke Valley initiative with the mission, “Women united to create a better community through action, inspiration and partnership.” Thanks to Wachovia Wealth Management for supporting inaugural programs. Events are announced to the public as scheduled by the steering committee.
