Collaborating with United Way![]() The Roanoke Valley’s most important resource is caring people. Those who work for nonprofit health and human service agencies are natural collaborators in the work of United Way. Today, the Roanoke Valley is home to 27 United Way partner agencies that serve a comprehensive range of human needs. Each year these agencies can apply for program funds to address United Way impact areas. Community volunteers who invest proceeds from the United Way annual community campaign review all requests to see that programs get measurable, positive results and that agencies comply with United Way partner agency standards. Other Roanoke Valley nonprofit health and human service groups hold eligible agency status with United Way. They agree to comply with basic standards in order for United Way to accept funds on their behalf during the annual campaign.
