April in Paris Enchants Hundreds of UWRV Supporters

April In Paris, the auction gala held on April 26 at Hotel Roanoke, drew nearly 300 people to sample a bit of European elegance and to show support for United Way community work.

"We are very grateful to those who attended and so generously enjoyed this one-of-a-kind event," said Kathy Stockburger, UWRV Board Chair. Calculations are still in process to determine the evening's proceeds.

As originally planned, half the total will be placed in the United Way Impact Fund that supports more than 60 local health and human services operated by United Way partner agencies. The remaining half is to be donated to the United in Caring Fund for victims and families of the Virginia Tech tragedy. The UWRV Board of Directors decided to share proceeds in the wake of the April 16 incident on the Blacksburg campus.
